UTILIZATION OF PATENTS AS A STIMULATE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT AND COMMERCIALIZATION OF TECHNOLOGIES FOR CELLULAR THERAPY IN BRAZIL

Cell therapy is a treatment based on research related to biomedicine, and its purpose is to assist in the treatment, prevention and even cure of genetic and / or acquired diseases. This treatment helps to restore a set of cells using the cells of their own. so that the procedure is started in this way. Therefore, the aim of this study was to perform a mapping related to cell therapy, being performed a search in the database of the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI). The methodology approached consisted of a mapping related to cell therapy, through the database of the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI), and the keywords “cellular AND therapy” were used, applying some filters 131 patent deposits were found, which were from 1993 to 2017. The results show that there was a significant increase in 2014 compared to previous years, but only in 2017 there were the largest number of patent applications related to cell therapy, and in relation to According to the depositors' profile, most of these were companies totaling 65%, followed by universities covering 26%, and independent inventors 9%. Thus, this study shows that there is a need to increase the number of patent applications for cell therapy in this database, as this will allow its commercialization and development, since this treatment benefits individuals who seek solutions that until then were possible.
