Resumo

Silver economy is the set of economic activities that meet the needs of people over 50. The challenges brought by the aging population worldwide reiterate the lack of monitoring of technological trends directed to this public. In this sense, the aim of this work is to identify the main technologies dedicated to the elderly registered at the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI). The research is characterized as exploratory, descriptive and documentary, analyzing 13 patent records dedicated exclusively to the elderly, filed in the country between the years 2017 and 2022. The results of this research point out that: all applications were categorized as invention requests, not yet released to grant the letter patent; all results refer to chemical compositions; there are no records petitioned by Brazil, leaving the leadership to the United States; in the analyzed period there is stability of three applications per year between 2018 and 2021, with no occurrences in 2022; 45 inventors were accounted for, of which four concentrate 18% of the ownership and are directly linked to the most prominent depositing companies, being them Alkahest and Nestle; and as for the IPC classification the prevalence is 77% of A61K categorized as human needs directed to preparations for medical purposes. It is concluded from this that the national technological production has neglected the potential of the silver economy in terms of production and domestic consumption, which may reflect a delay in possible innovation strategies and market positioning in relation to international competitors.
