TECHNOLOGICAL PROSPECTION OF PALMITO-JUÇARA (Euterpe edulis Martius)
Resumo
Euterpe edulis Martius, popularly known as juçara palm, is a native tree of the Atlantic Rainforest found mainly in the states of the southern regions of Brazil. Natural regeneration and conservation of E. edulis was seriously impaired by deforestation and intense illegal extraction of heart of palm. On the other hand, the palm tree E. edulis also produces spherical and purple fruits, similar to those of the Euterpe oleracea palm tree, from which the common name açaí originates. Thus, the present study aimed to prospect, through the evaluation of scientific articles and patent documents, the main biological activities and medicinal applications of E. edulis.
